Master Zhang Jingxu

Zhang Jingxu 張靜虛 (b. 1432) was a native of Pizhou (now Pizhou, Jiangsu), Ming Dynasty. He often sat on a tiger skin and was nicknamed Zhang Zhenren Tiger Skin. He was fond of Daoism since childhood, then he met an extraordinary person who taught him the secret alchemy method. He lived in seclusion in Wudang Mountain and later passed the alchemy method to his disciple Li Xu'an 李虛庵.

Zhang Jingxu (Zhenren) traveled through several provinces but did not meet anyone who whant sincere to study Daoism. One day, Emperor Jiajing (Ming Dynasty) heard that Zhang Zhenren have the art of longevity, and he sent an envoy to force him to teach Daoism. But, seeing that Emperor Jiajing was not sincere in learning Daoism, Zhang Zhenren pretended that he did not know what is the DAO, and despite repeated requests refused to teach him. Emperor Jiajing was furious, punished Zhang Zhenren.

Three years later, Zhang Jingxu went to Mashen Temple in Lujiang County, Lu'an Prefecture, and taught skills of dual cultivation (elixir way) Li Xu'an, a poor scholar who made a living by selling water. Не said to Li Xu'an: I have only taught you in my life, and you must continue to teach others and continue a linage of Longmen ("Wudang Mountain Records").
